The Marvel Legends Wolfsbane figure, part of the 2024 Zabu Build-A-Figure wave, is a detailed and articulated representation of the X-Factor character Rahne Sinclair. The Marvel Legends Wolfsbane figure is a much-anticipated addition to the line that captures the essence of this complex, clawed heroine. From her expressive sculpt to the intricate fur-like details, this figure brings Rahne’s feral yet endearing personality to life. The design strikes an impressive balance between her more beastly features–like her clawed hands and lupine face–and the agile, feline grace she embodies in the comics. However, issues such as the fur color being too orange (resembling X-Force’s Feral), a divisive head sculpt, and a lack of creative accessories have left some collectors underwhelmed.

The figure’s sculpt does an excellent job of embodying Wolfsbane’s duality–her feral side and her humanity. The figure perfectly captures her mid-transformation state, a look that’s instantly recognizable to fans of the character. Wolfsbane’s hair is a triumph of sculpted chaos. Each strand is carefully sculpted to add motion and intensity, making her feel like she’s in the middle of an action sequence.

Accessories
Wolfsbane comes with:
• Two alternate hands (fists and clawed hands).
• The central torso piece of the Zabu Build-A-Figure.

The articulation on the Marvel Legends Wolfsbane figure is consistent with the standard Marvel Legends engineering, offering a good range of motion for posing and display. However, given the character’s feral and agile nature, some articulation points could have been better optimized for dynamic poses.

Head Movement: The ball-hinged neck allows for decent side-to-side rotation, but the up-and-down motion is somewhat restricted due to the sculpt of her chest and hair. This limitation makes it challenging to achieve crouching or howling poses that would suit her werewolf-like persona.

Arms: The figure features butterfly joints at the shoulders, enhancing forward and backward arm movement. Combined with double-jointed, pinless elbows, the arms can easily achieve claw-slashing or defensive stances. However, the fur sculpt around the shoulders slightly hinders the full range of motion.

Torso: The ab crunch provides forward and backward movement, but it’s not as deep as one might expect for a character known for crouching and leaping. A ball-jointed diaphragm cut could have offered more flexibility in this area. The waist swivel works well to add rotational movement.

Legs: Double-jointed knees allow for deep bends, while thigh cuts and ankle rockers ensure stability in wide stances. The ankle pivot is excellent for balancing in crouched or lunging positions, though the absence of toe articulation is noticeable for a character who often moves on all fours in her feral form.

As briefly mentioned before, another one of the primary concerns is the color choice for the fur. The fur is painted in a dark orange hue, which many fans feel is more reminiscent of X-Force’s Feral rather than Wolfsbane’s traditional brown.

Despite the color issue, the paint application itself is quite detailed. The fur on the legs and arms features a gradient effect that adds depth and texture, giving the appearance of thicker fur in certain areas like the calves and shin. However, a minor critique is that the fur shading could be more consistent in some areas, as certain parts feel less defined compared to others. Yet there’s still careful attention to detail here–her claws are painted with precision, and her piercing yellow eyes pop against her dark facial fur.

Of course, every Marvel Legend has its quirks. While the figure’s articulation is solid for posing her in snarling, action-packed stances, her range can feel a touch limited compared to some of her Marvel Legends peers. And while the sculpt is undeniably detailed, some collectors might wish for more alternate parts and accessories. An alternate head, perhaps one in her fully human form or another with a neutral expression, would have added to her versatility. Sure, she might not have all the bells and whistles of some releases, but her character shines through in every detail.

This figure is a welcome addition for collectors aiming to complete Peter David’s 90s X-Factor lineup. Its vibrant design and new tooling make it stand out compared to older Wolfsbane releases. However, critiques regarding its fur color, only one head sculpt option, and lack of innovative accessories prevent it from being a must-have figure in the Marvel Legends line. The Marvel Legends Wolfsbane (2024) is a solid but unremarkable addition to Hasbro’s lineup. While it succeeds in completing an iconic team and features improved sculpting details, its shortcomings leave room for improvement.
